Friday Night in Aisle 5....

A huge savings for me over the years has been my ability to cook. Nothing beats a quick eight bucks in your wallet like packing leftovers for lunch and eating in your cubicle. The money saved during the week allows me to justify weekends with nice dinners (and a few glasses of wine), when I have the time to relax and socialize. This weekend is proving to be a little less exciting, and my Friday night began with a trip to the grocery store. I only buy sale items at the grocery store, and plan my meals around the weekly sales. Tonight I picked up a 5 lb. bag of white potatoes and a 5 lb. bag of yellow onions for $1.48 each! They also had pints of grape tomatoes for $1.48 each, which is a steal in the middle of a PA winter. I picked up two pints of tomatoes and headed home along with my 5 lb. sacks of potatoes and onions. I whipped up a quick marinara with the tomatoes, onions, and other panty goods, and paired it with a box of pasta. Not as entertaining as a restaurant meal with friends, but a cheap way to fill my stomach and have leftovers for the weekend.
